At the end of 2011, FRS created new branding for
The Electric Barge
and The Floating Classroom. An educational charity who also
encompass a commercial, private hire business based aboard an
electric powered barge on the Regents and Grand Union canals. As an
addition to the branding, FRS have been heavily involved with the
design, management and installation of The Electric Barge's new
signage. The installation was completed on a beautiful sunny day at
the end of March at their Little Venice mooring.
The signage project came with a variety of challenges. These
included handling a very fixed budget, (they are a charity after
all!) sourcing reliable and experienced suppliers who could deliver
the project on time, on budget and more importantly to a high
standard.
Due to the unique nature of the barge running on electric
motors, the lighting of the roof sign was always going to be
challenge. After extensive research we found a suitable provider of
low voltage lights. As you might image, the staff and crew of the
Electric Barge were relieved to hear the words 'low voltage', a
brilliantly lit sign but no propulsion was not an option!
All the crews involved in the project executed their roles with
skill and precision, which now leaves 'The Electric Barge' not only
with a striking new identity but also a highly visible presence up
and down London's waterways. We hope the efforts made by FRS and
all concerned will help steer a new course for the good ship
Electric Barge and all who sail in her!
